Backpack BuddiesEvery week during the school year our church provides two lunches to take home for the weekends to kids that attend a local elementary school. The school determines which kids receive the lunches - those that do are already on the free or reduced lunch program. This project requires many hands as well as money.
One couple purchases the food every week and brings it to church, another couple sets up a little assembly line in the Fellowship Hall, and 6 - 10 volunteers come in and pack up the meals and put them in bins. A school volunteer picks up the bins and deliveres them to the school. Someone from church retrieves the empty bins from the school and the process starts all over again.
